About Amy

Amy McCarthy is a Chartered Physiotherapist with a strong background in healthcare and a particular passion for women’s pelvic health. She began her healthcare career completing an undergraduate degree in General Nursing at University College Cork (UCC), where she first developed an interest in physiotherapy and women’s health.

She subsequently completed a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh in 2018, gaining valuable experience through a variety of clinical placements and rotations within NHS and HSE healthcare systems. She has over four years’ experience working within Cork University Hospital (CUH) and Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH), where she further developed her knowledge and expertise in pelvic health and women’s health physiotherapy.

She has a particular interest in postnatal rehabilitation and is passionate about supporting women through all stages of life, from pregnancy and postpartum recovery to returning to exercise and everyday activities with confidence. Dedicated to providing evidence-based care, she regularly engages with the latest research and developments in women’s health physiotherapy to ensure her patients receive the highest standard of treatment.

In addition to her physiotherapy training, she has completed qualifications in both Mat and Reformer Pilates.

She believes in working collaboratively with each patient to understand their individual goals and challenges, creating personalised treatment plans that empower women through education, movement, and self-management. Known for her warm and approachable manner, she strives to create a supportive, welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable, heard, and confident throughout their rehabilitation journey.
